History of the department. In order to provide training of a Bachelor, a Specialist, a Master in specialty of «International Economics» in 2006 was created graduating Department of International Economics, headed by Doc. Sc. (Econ.), Professor Kuznyak B.Y., from 2012 – Doc. Sc. (Econ.) Chychkalo-Kondratska І.B. In 2012 was created the Department of Marketing (Head of the Department, Doc. Sc. (Econ.), Professor Korenyuk P.І.) In the process of association emerged Department of International Economics and Marketing, headed by Doc. Sc. (Econ.), Professor Chychkalo-Kondratska І.B.

The activity of the department aims to prepare high-quality specialists in international economic relations and marketing to meet the needs of the national economy in conditions of globalization and Ukraine integration into the world economic space.

All subjects, which are taught at the department, equipped with modern learning-methodical materials, including in English. In recent years prepared and published 7 manuals, textbook, 15 supporting lectures in Ukrainian and English, more than 50 methodical instructions on the practical classes, the students individual work, preparation, clearance and defense of coursework, graduation bachelor and diploma papers, passing all type of the practices.

On October 6, 2016, the Department of International Economics and Marketing celebrated its 10th anniversary. As part of the events dedicated to this anniversary, teachers and students of the Department conducted scientific events and concerts under the slogan “We are 10 years old”, organized an exhibition of students’ works and a competition of greeting posters.

Department staff - are highly qualified experienced economists-theorists, who have high-level methodology and theory of international economic relations and marketing, as well as specialists of specific disciplines. The department employs 12 lectures, almost 80% are Doctors of Economics, professor, PhD, associate professor. Teachers of the department are constantly working on improving educational technologies, using innovative approaches and interactive teaching methods.

Research interests: international economic relations, international finance, foreign security of Ukraine, international innovation and investment activity international scientific and technological ties.

She has over 250 scientific publications, including 8 monographs, textbook and 7 manuals, articles, included in international scientometric databases, in particular SCOPUS. She supervises of the preparation of postgraduate’s theses.

Scientific and pedagogical workers carry out scientific research within the scientific directions of the department, in particular with regard to theoretical, methodological and practical aspects: development of the global economy and international economic relations, international innovation and investment activity, European integration processes, foreign economic activity of domestic enterprises; Ensuring international competitiveness at macro and macro levels; the activities of transnational corporations; application of modern marketing technologies; implementation of marketing strategies and advertising activities at enterprises, introduction of brand management in companies.

Over the past five years the Department organized and conducted 10 scientific and practical conferences, including 4 international, 5 all-Ukrainian and 1 interuniversity.

During 2016-2017 years five scientific events were held:

  1. IV International Scientific and Practical Internet Conference for Students, Postgraduates and Young Scientists «The national economy in conditions of globalization: trends, challenges and prospects» (November 23, 2016).
  2. Meeting of the International Economics and Marketing Section within the framework of the 69th Scientific Conference for Professors, Teachers, Researchers, Postgraduate Students and University Students (April 2017)
  3. Brain-ring "EU - known and unknown" (May 2017)
  4. Session of the Section within the framework of the International Scientific and Practical Internet Conference "Economic Development of the Country and its Social Stability" (May 11, 2017).
  5. Scientific-practical seminar "Export-import activity of enterprises in the conditions of European integration" (May 17, 2017).

On November 23, 2016, at the Poltava National Technical Yuri Kondratyuk University were held the IV International Scientific and Practical Internet Conference for Students, Postgraduates and Young Scientists «The national economy in conditions of globalization: trends, challenges and prospects». The conference was organized by the Department of International Economics and Marketing.

The conference participants had the opportunity to communicate in two ways: on-line - in the form of scientific seminar and discussion; off-line - in the form of electronic correspondence (e-mail) and through the forum.

The conference was attended by students, post-graduate students and young scientists from more than 20 higher education institutions from Ukraine, Belarus, Poland, Latvia, Germany, Bulgaria, Georgia, who had the opportunity to get acquainted with more than 130 topical scientific papers connected with globalization and its influence on the national economies of different countries, the formation and implementation of strategies of companies in foreign markets, the application of modern marketing technologies in international business.

During the conference there was a skype-communication with the Vitebsk State Technological University (Republic of Belarus) and the European Higher School of Business (Republic of Poland). Greetings and speeches were delivered by Yasheva Galina Artemivna (head of the Department of Economic Theory and Marketing of the Vitebsk State Technological University, doctor in Economics, Professor); Yulia Vailunova, (senior Lecturer at the Vitebsk State Technological University) and Malovychko Andriy (head of the International Division of European Business High School in Poznan, PhD, Professor).

The reports devoted to the development of the agro-industrial sector in the developed countries of the world were made by professor of the Department of International Economics and Marketing Bogdan Kusnyak and head of the Department of Roads, Land Management and Rural Buildings, Ph.D., Associate Professor Shariy Grigory Ivanovich.

Problems and prospects of the functioning of the Ukraine-EU Free Trade Area were discussed in the speech of the head of the Department of International Economics and Marketing, Professor Chichkalo-Kondraska Irina Borisovna.

Goncharova Anna, student, and Bryak Alonya, assistant of the department, have dedicated their reports to global issues of the world economy and Ukraine's position in international investment attractiveness ratings.

During the conference there was an Internet forum where participants exchanged comments, messages and e-mails.

During the Days of Europe in Ukraine on May 17, 2017, Department of International Economics and Marketing held a Workshop "Export and import activities of enterprises in the European integration."

Guests were invited to a scientific workshop – including employees of enterprises and institutions. Particularly interesting reports were: Kyz Victor, head of the export department of the "Diamond Ltd" company; Drotska Larisa, head of the Personnel Selection Center of PJSC CB "PrivatBank"; and Chornomurova Victoria, an expert on marketing for UCT. The conference participant’s reports were very entertaining and describe the activities of their companies in the European market.

On November 23, 2015, the 3rd International Scientific and Practical Internet Conference of Students, Postgraduates and Young Scientists "National Economy in the Conditions of Globalization: Trends, Problems and Prospects" was held.

The conference was attended by students, post-graduate students and young scientists from 27 higher education institutions and institutions from Ukraine, the People's Republic of China, Germany, Poland, Latvia, Bulgaria, who had the opportunity to get acquainted with more than 150 current scientific developments on globalization and its impact on The national economies of different countries, the formation and implementation of strategies of companies in foreign markets, the application of modern marketing technologies in international business.

Representatives of the Peace Corps congratulated the participants of the 3rd International Scientific and Practical Internet Conference: Barry Gropp, Lisa Weiss, Larry Raffety.

The conference participants had the opportunity to listen to the reports of students and scholars from different countries in the on-line mode. About the results of their own research reported: Pasichko Viktoria and students from Brazil, Bulgaria, Bangladesh, Mexico, Iran, Azerbaijan (The University of Applied Sciences Schmalkalden, Germany); Tkachov Nikita (Uniwersytet Opolski, Poland); Ralko Vladislav (International University College, Bulgaria); Levchenko Veronika (Shandong University of Technology, PRC). Participants' speeches were in English and Chinese.

On November 25, 2014, the 2nd International Scientific and Practical Internet Conference of Students, Postgraduates and Young Scientists "National Economy in the Conditions of Globalization: Trends, Problems and Prospects" was held.

November 26, 2013 Department of International Economics and Marketing organized and International Scientific and Practical Internet conference of students and young scientists "National Economy under Globalization: Trends, Challenges and Prospects".

The conference was attended by over 250 participants from leading domestic and foreign universities (from Belarus, China, Germany, Poland and Bulgaria). In on-line mode: Jürgen Schwil, Professor, PhD, Brandenburg University of Applied Sciences, Brandenburg (Germany); Khan Kang, Ph.D., Levchenko Veronika, Master's degree in International Economics, Shandong University of Technology (PRC); Makarenko Maria, Master's degree in the specialty "International Tourism", Academy of. Andrzej Fritsa Mojjewski, Krakow (Poland).

In the video conference mode, a webinar was hosted with a foreign partner university PoltNTU. During the on-line workshop, students, graduate students and faculty members from both universities highlighted active discussions on the issues of competitiveness of national economies in the context of globalization.

Over the past three years, more than 100 scientific works have been published by the teachers of the department, including In foreign professional editions and in publications, which are registered in international NMBDs (in particular, SCOPUS and Web of Science).

During 2016 - 2017 years four housework contracts were completed on the order of enterprises. The market researches of the market of light-emitting diode products, markets of agricultural products, and the market of drill pipes in Ukraine and in the world are carried out. The strategy of entering the foreign markets for PP «Agroecology», marketing strategies for the Globynsky area, Poltava regional organization of UTOS has been developed. The promotional product for PJSC "Poltavipovo Firm", Kyivstar Ukraine, PP "Agroecology", LLC "Clinic of Plastic and Cosmetic Surgery" is offered.

The department actively attracts the best students to the research work. Students of specialties "International Economics", "International Economic Relations" and "Marketing" under the leadership of teachers take part in international, all-Ukrainian and interuniversity scientific conferences, all-Ukrainian and regional competitions of scientific student's work, all-Ukrainian competitions on international economics and marketing, and take prize places. During the last five years the students of the department received:

- 2 Diplomas of the first degree (2013 and 2017) according to the results of the All-Ukrainian contest of student scientific works connected with natural, technical and humanitarian sciences in the direction of "World economy and international economic relations", students Vytko Julia and Fedina Olga (scientific advisor Prof. Chichkalo-Kondratska I. B.);

- Diploma of the second degree (2014) on the results of the All-Ukrainian competition of student's scientific papers in the direction of "World Economy and International Economic Relations" at the Donetsk National University of Economics and Trade named after M. Tugan-Baranovsky, student Kharchenko Tetyana (supervisor of the D.Sc. Mr. Prof. Chichkalo-Kondraska I.B.);

- Diploma of the third degree (2014) for participation in the All-Ukrainian competition of student research papers in the direction of "Tourism" at the Kyiv National University of Trade and Economics, student Sinitsa Marina;

- 2 Diplomas of the third degree (2015 and 2017) on the results of the All-Ukrainian competition of student scientific works on natural, technical and humanitarian sciences in the direction of "World Economy and International Economic Relations", held at the Kyiv National Economic University named after. Vadim Hetman, student Haver Hanna (scientific advisor, Ph.D., assistant professor Bezrukova NV) and Anna Lekunovich (scientific adviser - Cand. Sci., Svichkar V.A.).

 

Over this period, the students of the department published over 100 scientific works in various editions of Ukraine, near and far abroad.

Two students' scientific groups work in the department on a permanent basis in accordance with the scientific interests of teachers and students. The subject of the work of the circles concerns all major areas of development of international economic relations and marketing. Future entrants are invited to the meeting of the scientific community. The best results of the work of the circle are published in collections of scientific master's works, professional editions. Students take part in the performance of the department's contract works.

International cooperation is one of the priority directions of the Department of International Economics and Marketing development.

The Department of International Economics and Marketing provides training for international students in a foreign language. Students on specialty «International Economics» are from Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Nigeria, Lebanon, China, Ivory Coast, Morocco and other countries.

The following disciplines are taught in English: International Economics, International Trade, Foreign Economic Activity of Enterprise, Marketing, Transnationalization of the Economy and Economic State Policy, International Economic Activity of Ukraine, International Management, International Innovation Activity, Global Economy, European Integration and others.

All scientific and teaching staff of the Department has publicashions in international professional journals, included those in the international scientific-metric databases, including SCOPUS.

In the 2016-2017 academic year 6 articles were published abroad, our lectures took part in 5 international scientific-practical conferences abroad and participated in 2 collective foreign monographs (1 in English).

In the 2016-2017 academic years there were 2 foreign trips. Head of the Department, Doctor of Economics, Professor Chichkalo-Kondraska I.B. and associate professor Svichkar V.А. had the internship at the European Business School (Poznan, Republic of Poland).

On the 17-th of November, 2016, professor Chichkalo-Kondraska I.B. took part in the conference "Association Agreement / Partnership Agreement between Ukraine and the EU: the first lessons for Ukraine". The conference was held under the initiative of the Center for European Political Studies (CEPS) in Brussels and the Institute for Economic Research and Policy Consulting in Kyiv.

The work is ongoing to improve the quality of international academic mobility. Poltava National Technical Yuri Kondratyuk University, in particular the Department of International Economics and Marketing, actively cooperates with foreign higher educational institutions.

In July 2016, students of the "International Economics" and "Marketing" fields, Goncharova Anna, Dikan Rostislav and Olkhovyk Olena visited the Summer School of Economics at the Bialystok Technological University.

In the 2016-2017 academic years, 17 applications for grants were submitted by our department and students of the specialties "International Economics" and "Marketing".

Students of the specialties "International Economics" and "Marketing" are active participants of the programs of foreign language, educational, cultural and industrial internships.

Elena Olkhovyk, a student in the field of Marketing, was elected as a winner and participated as a member of the team representing Ukraine at the Youth Exchange "We are different, but united" in Estonia.

The project was supported by the European Union and the Erasmus + program. 42 participants from 8 different countries of the world (Armenia, Germany, Poland, Spain, Belarus, Georgia, Estonia, Ukraine) discussed issues of cultural and religious diversity, tolerance and human rights.

Olena Olkhovik also participated in the preparation and implementation of the project "Exchange of Values of the European Union" in Germany. The project was implemented with the support of the European Union program ERASMUS +.

The Erasmus + youth exchange program was held in Germany from April, 6, to April 15, 2017. 67 participants from 11 countries took part in it: Great Britain, Spain, Germany, Poland, Belarus, Ukraine, Austria, Russia, Moldova, Georgia and Estonia, among them Olena Olkhovyk, a student of the Department of International Economics and Marketing.

The student of the "International Economics" field, Bulbah Victoria, won a grant for attending a summer school in Chernivtsi - the project is funded by the Ukrainian-Scandinavian Center. In the framework of the summer school it is planned to familiarize with Norwegian culture, study Norwegian language, travel to Western Ukraine.

Also Bulba Victoria received the grant to attend the International Student Festival in Serbia in July 2017.

In 2015 Tkachоv Nikita and Anastasia Mornyeva were studying in Poland Opole University under the Program of the Government of the Republic of Poland «Polish Erasmus for Ukraine».

Kulinich Oksana and and Zadorozhnii Artem had language and cultural practice for 10 days in July 2014 at the University of Management in Warsaw (Poland).

Pasichko Victoria passed the two-week internship in London Language School (West Bridge School) in 2013, and Alina Blick had a language course in Switzerland in «Devisione Vella Aormazione Professionale (linguaitaliana)». Illyashyk Anna visited Lithuania under student exchange program in 2012.

Levchenko Veronika in 2011-2012 academic years during the semester studied Chinese for a grant in the First Shanghai University (China); and in the 2012-2013 academic years another 2 semesters she studied program management in the province Shandong at Technological University of Shandong.

During the semester, student Sikalova Marina studied at the Brandenburg University of Applied Sciences (Germany) in the 2011-2012 academic year and received an invitation after a successful internship.

After graduating the specialty «International Economics» at PoltNTU the following students entered the Master's courses in different countries:

- in 2015 Pohorila Maryа entered Itä-Suomenyliopisto – University of Eastern Finland (UEF) – the Master Course «International Business»;

- in 2014 Pasichko Victoria entered the Master Course at The University of Applied Sciences Schmalkalden, (Germany), specialty «International Business and Economics»;

- Vladislav Ralko and Vitaly Bishko passed Master course in speciality «International Business Management» in International University College in Sofia (Bulgaria);

- Evgeniy Stepanov studied at the University of Matej Bel (Slovakia) in speciality «Management and marketing in business»;

- Masha Makarenko received the Master Degree in Andrzej Frycz Modrzewski Krakow University (Poland), specialty «International tourism», in 2014;

- Timur Musashyhov studied at Master Course at Brandenburg University of Applied Sciences in specialty «International Management», which had successfully completed, and works in Germany now;

- Levchenko Veronika, after receiving Bachelor Degree, entered the Master Course at Technological University in Shandong (China) on a specialty «International Economics» which had completed in 2016, and works in China now.

Conducting of various extra-curricular activities for the Europe Day in Ukraine has become a good tradition. One of them is the annual brain-ring «The European Union: known and unknown», where students can demonstrate their knowledge of the organizational structure of the EU economy, politics, culture and their own vision of European integration processes of Ukraine.

In May 25, 2016 students and teachers of PoltNTU had the opportunity to participate in interesting educational and entertainment event held the Department of International Economics and Marketing – brain-ring “EU - known and unknown” - and get a lot of new useful information on European Union.

In 2017, students of the Educational-Scientific Institute of Finance, Economics and Management, specialties "International Economics", "Marketing" and "Tourism", took part in it. They formed the teams "Adler", "Democrats" and "Tourists".

During the first tour the students showed their knowledge in different particularities of political, economic and cultural life of the EU countries.

While the second tour the students should make mini-presentations of such European countries as Germany, Poland, and Montenegro.

Every year, as part of celebrations the Day of Europe in Ukraine, lecturers and students took part in artistic and cultural event «European Students' Town».

Teachers from foreign countries are invited to teach different subjects in English. The aim of such classes is to deep the students’ knowledge in the sphere of international economic relations and master foreign languages.

For example, Professor Jurgen Schwil taught a course of lectures on the subject «International Innovation Management»; Professor Diana Deinert gave practical skills of the business planing according to international standards. Professor of the Higher Technical School of Brandenburg (Germany) Regina Shaolinski lectured the course «Intercultural Management» to give the students the practical skills of conducting business negotiations.
