The chair of hydraulics, water supply and sewerage is one of the oldest chairs of the university. It is based on the chair of hydraulics and rural hydrotechnics, that was founded in 1930. The first head of the chair was candidate of technical sciences, associate professor Damanskiy L.M., who was the head of institute at the same time. Then the chair was headed by candidates of technical sciences, associate professors Moroz K.M., Chibov O.V., Ulizko P.E., Novochatniy V.G., Vasylenko Y.P. in chronological order. The name of the chair was changed few times and since 1994 it is the chair of hydraulics, water supply and sewerage. Since 1988 it is headed by candidate of technical sciences, professor Sribnyuk S.M. His work was rewarded by number of diplomas of Ministry of education and science of Ukraine and the medal “Honored educationalist”.

The department lecturers in the laboratory of hydraulics

 

1.  SribnyukStepanMyhailovych – candidate of technical sciences, professor, head of the сhair since 1988.

    He graduated from Kharkov Aviation Institute in 1967, a design engineer in "aircraft engines". In 1979 he defended his PhD thesis is entitled "Investigation of unbalanced gas-liquid flows." Under his leadership 3 scientists of the chair defended their theses – Molodorich O.M., Zlobin I.O., Nikitenko M.I. Since 2002, Sribnyuk S.M. there is a scientific director of the research work on the power of attorney from the U.S. Agency for International Development by "avid", which provides for the modernization of facilities and communal services of Ukraine within the project "Reform of tariffs and restructuring of public enterprises in Ukraine." In 2005 issued a study guide with the stamp of Education of Ukraine "Hydraulic and aerodynamic machines" and for the set of requirements has received the title of professor. In 2012 issued another textbook labeled with MES "Pumps and pumping systems".  He has more than 160 scientific works, including more than 60 inventions. In 2011 he was awarded the medal “Honorededucationalist”. Has a number of awards and votes of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, as well as leadership PoltNTU. Teaching experience is more than 30 years.

  He teaches subjects: "Hydraulic and aerodynamic machines ", "Pump and Blower Stations", "Engineering mechanics of liquids and gases," "Basic scientific researches", "Optimizing engineering solutions forwater and sewerage systems", "Licensing and patenting of scientific production."

2. Novochatniy Valeriy Gavrylovych – doctor of technical sciences, professor.

    He graduated from Poltava Institute of Civil Engineering in 1965 with honors, a civil engineer on speciality "Water and Sewerage". In 1971, he defended Ph.D. thesis on "Investigation of the reliability of water supply pumping stations" in the Moscow Civil Engineering Institute named after V.V. Kuibyshev, and in 1974 he was awarded the rank of assistant professor. Since 1974 to 1982 he was the Head of Department and in 1982 – 1984 – Dean of the Sanitary Technical Faculty. In March 2012 he defended his doctoral thesis in Kharkiv National University of Building and Architecture on "Reliability of supplying and distribution complex water systems."

    Under his leadership the postgraduate students make researches in the field "The reliability of water supply". In this direction defended their theses Kalyuzhny A.P. in 2003, Usenko I.S. in 2004, MatyashO.V. in 2012, completing a thesis Kostenko S.O.  He has more than 160 scientific works, 5 inventions, 1 manual labeled with MES, a number of methodological developments. Pedagogical work experience is about 50 years.

   He teaches subjects: "Water and Sewerage" (section "Water Supply"), "Water supply industry", "Theinstallations ofbuildings and structures", "Method of the master worksdevelop" and others.

3.  Grygorenko Mykola Vasyliovych– candidate of technical sciences, associate professor

       He graduated from Poltava Institute of Civil Engineering in 1965 as a civil engineer on speciality "Water and Sewerage". He worked at the JSC "Poltava factory HID lamps" on the different posts: a master, a design engineer, a chief of design bureau. Since 1974 he has been working in the Poltava National Technical University named after Yuri Kondratyuk. From 1978 to 1980 he studied at the postgraduate of the Moscow Civil Engineering Institute named after V.V. Kuibyshev. In 1986 he defended his thesis on the topic: "Simulation of systems of water supply and water distribution".  In 1991 he was awarded the rank of assistant professor. He has over 40 published papers and one textbook labeled with MES.

   He teaches subjects: "Sewerage Facilities", "Reconstruction of the water supply and seweragesystems", "Resource-saving technologies in water supply and sewerage", " Engineering Networksof Cities", "Water management".

4. Klepikov Oleksandr Dmytrovych – candidate of technical sciences, associate professor

    He graduated from Novocherkask Engineering Melioration Institute in 1969, a hydraulic engineer in "Melioration". After graduation he worked in the design institute "Belgiprovodkhoz" in Minsk. After 3 years, moved to the Research Institute "BELNIIMVH", where he enrolled in the post graduate course and defended his thesis on the topic: "The study of the water regime of water storages ofa drying-humidification systems". Since 1983 he has been working in the Poltava National Technical University named after Yuri Kondratyuk. Since 1985 he has been working as associate professor . He has more than 70 publications. He is the author and co-author of 16 inventions in the field of water and sewerage treatment facilities, some of which have been successfully implemented in the projects and implemented at the facilities of Poltava and other regions of Ukraine.

5. Guzynin Oleksandr Ivanovych – candidate of technical sciences, associate professor.

    He graduated from the Poltava Institute of Civil Engineering in 1973, a civil engineer in "Water and Sewerage". Since 1973 he has been working in the Poltava National Technical University named after Yuri Kondratyuk. He defendsthesis on the topic: "The calculation of the optimum parameters of reconstruction of water supply and distribution" in Moscow at the Research Institute VODGEO in 1986.He has over 80 publications and 8 inventions. The main direction of scientific activity is the optimization and reliability of water supply systems, mathematical modeling of water supply and drainage.

    He teaches subjects: "Sanitary installations of buildings", "Directions ofprogressive development of water supply and sewerage systems", "Improvement of calculation methods of water supply and sewerage systems", "Water supply and sewerage" (section "Sewerage"), "Technical mechanics of fluids", "Oil and gas mechanics"and others.

6. Usenko Iryna Sergiyivna – candidate of technical sciences, associate professor.

  She graduated from the Poltava Institute of Civil Engineering in 1989, a civil engineer on speciality"Water supply and sewerage." She defends a Ph.D. thesis in specialized scientific council of the Kyiv National University of Construction and Architecture. In 2011 she was awarded the rank of assistant professor. The experience of scientific and pedagogical work isabout 15 years. She has morethan 25 publications. Themain direction of scientific activity is study of ring water networks by computer.

    She teaches subjects: "Hydraulics, hydrology, hygrometry", "Engineering Hydrology", "Mass transfer", "Hydraulics, hydraulic and pneumatic actuator".  

7. KalyuzhnyAnatoliyPavlovych – candidate of technical sciences, senior lecturer..

    He graduated from the Poltava State Technical University named after Yuri Kondratyuk in 1997, a civil engineer on speciality "Water supply andsewerage, sustainable use and protection of water resources." After graduation, he worked in various companies in Poltava:

OJSC "Poltava Diamond Plant", "Plant of gas-discharge lamps", LLC "Poltava factory of quartz glass", LLC "Poltava GlassPlant." Held different positions:operatorof wastewater treatment, master ofneutralization station, engineer of water supply and seweragesector, the head of energy department, the power engineering specialist of the company, the chief power engineer of the company. During working he finished correspondence postgraduate study at the Poltava State Technical University named after Yuri Kondratyuk. He defended his thesis on the topic: "Comparative analysis of the effectiveness of water recycling systems of industrial enterprises" in the specialized scientific council of the Kyiv National University of Construction and Architecture in "Water and Sewerage" in 2003.The main research areas are water supplysystems and networks, water supply and sewerage of plant facilities.

   He teaches subjects: "Engineering Networks ofCities", "Construction and operation of engineering networks" "Iron removal and water softening," "Small wastewater treatment plants", "Water and Sewerage","Sewerage of industrial enterprises", "Rates in water supply and sewerage systems".

8. Yakovlev Viktor Sergiyovych – candidate of technical sciences, senior lecturer.

 

  He graduated from Poltava National Technical University named after Yuri Kondratyuk in 2003 on speciality "Water supply and sewerage." In 2007 he graduated from the post graduate school ofPoltNTUon speciality "Foundations" and began working as a research assistant at the Chair of Geotechnics. In 2009 he defended his thesis on "Determination of the bearing capacity of prismatic piles in terms of the soil strength".

  He teaches subjects: "Water", "Water, sanitation and improved water quality", "Hydraulics, hydraulic and pneumatic actuator", "Technical mechanics of fluids", "Oil and gas mechanics".

 

9.  Matyash Oleksandr Vasyliovych – candidate of technical sciences, senior lecturer.

      He graduated from Poltava National Technical University named after Yuri Kondratyuk in 2006, Master of Water Resources in "Water supply and sewerage".In 2009 he graduated from the post graduate school of PoltNTU. In 2012 he defended his thesis on the topic: "Improving the reliability of assessment and calculationsmethods of branched water supply networks". He has been working at the chair since 2007. The main research fields are the reliability of the water supply systems and facilities, water supply networks and sanitation facilities buildings.

 

    He teaches subjects: "Engineering equipment of buildings", "Water and Sewerage", "Engineering mechanics of liquids and gases", "Hydraulics and aerodynamics."

 

 

10. Molka Iryna Vitaliyivna – candidate of technical sciences, senior lecturer.

     She graduated from Poltava National Technical University named after Yuri Kondratyuk in 2005 on spesiality "Heat and gas supply and ventilation". In 2008 she graduated from the post graduate school ofPoltNTUon speciality "Building constructions,buildings and structures". She defended her thesis on "The influence of the thermal characteristics of the roof on the value of snow loadin 2012.She has more than 15 scientific works.

       She teaches subjects: "Water supply and sewerage", "Mass transfer", "Design organization of water supply and sewerage systems", "Technical mechanics of fluids", "Hydraulics and aerodynamics", "Oil and gas mechanics".     

 

11. Zubricheva Ludmyla Leonidivna – senior lecturer. 

       She graduated from Poltava Institute of Civil Engineering in 1983, a civil engineer on speciality "Water and Sewerage".

    She teaches subjects: "The rational use of water resources", "Water and Sewerage", "Drainage systems of industrial enterprises", "Hydraulics", "Health basis of speciality", "Technical mechanics of fluids", "Water resources and their use".

12. Kotelnikova Anna Sergiyivna – candidate of technical sciences, assistant.

   She graduated from Poltava National Technical University named after Yuri Kondratyuk in 2006, engineer of Water Resources in "Water supply and sewerage". After graduation, she worked as assistant at the department, then entered post graduate course of Institute of Hydromechanics of National Academy of Sciences, speciality 01.02.05 "Mechanics of liquid, gas and plasma", from which she graduated in 2010.She defended a Ph.D. thesis in 2013 “Interaction of surface solitary waves with topographical features”.

     She teaches subjects: "Hydraulics", "Engineering mechanics of liquids and gases", "Water supply and sanitation".

 

13. Kostenko Sergiy Oleksandrovych – candidate of technical sciences, assistant.

 

   He graduated from Poltava National Technical University named after Yuri Kondratyuk in 2009, Master of Water Resources on speciality "Water supply and sewerage".In 2012 he graduated from the post graduate school ofPoltNTU. In 2017 he defended his thesis on the topic:: "The reliability of water supply of group and production networks of branched type". Since 2012 he has been working as assistant at the chair. The main research fields are the reliability of the water supply systems and facilities, pumping stations and group watersupply systems.

 

14. Tsetsurenko Sergiy Viktorovych – Head of the Laboratory, senior lecturer.

 

    He graduated from the Poltava Institute of Civil Engineering in 1983, a civil engineer on speciality "Water and Sewerage ".

15. Stanishevska Oksana Oleksandrivna– senior laboratory assistant, assistant.

    She graduated from Poltava National Technical University named after Yuri Kondratyuk in 2008, an engineer on the use of water resources on speciality "Water supply and sewerage". Provides practical and laboratory classes on subjects: “Hydraulics, hydraulic and pneumatic actuator","Hydraulics", "Technical mechanics of fluids", "Water and Sewerage".

16. Gunko Anatoliy Oleksandrovych – training master.

    He graduated from Kharkov Automobile and Road Technical College in 1972, a building technician for the construction and operation of highways. Since 1972 to 1974 served in the military construction teams in Kupyansk. After the Army from 1975 to 2009 he worked in the Poltava district road repair and construction site on different positions: at first during 21 years master for the construction of roads, then 6 years foreman and 6 years foremaster on road operation. After retirement since 2011 has been working in Poltava National Technical University named after Yuri Kondratyukas teaching master.

In 1998 the Department conducted a licensing of specialty "Water Supply and Sewerage" and its accreditation in 1999 and 2003. In 2012 it successfully completed the licensing of a new specialty "Sustainable use and protection of water resources" for education and skill level of "master".

The Department may conduct training in the following educational qualification levels (according to the certificate СД IV №170145 of 21.06.2002, as well as license AA № 428701 of 10.01.2003, АД №041118 of 13.07.2012 giving the Ministry of Education and Science, Youth and Sport of Ukraine):

- Bachelor (term studies – 4 years) direction "Hydraulic Engineering (Water Resources)".Licensed capacity – 50 people full-time and 50 part-time form of training.

- Specialist (study period 1 year after the full time Bachelor) with the qualification of engineer in "Water Supply and Sanitation." Licensed capacity – 45 people full-time and 50 part-time form of training.

- Master (duration of study 1 year after the full course of Bachelor) by function:

Master of water and wastewater systems (volume license – 5 people full-time education);

Master of the rational use and protection of water resources (licensed capacity – 30 people full-time education).

 

THE CONCEPT OF THE DEPARTMENT DEVELOPMENT

FOR 2010 - 2020

The department of hydraulics, water supply and sewerage is a part of the oil, gas and nature management faculty.

The high professionalism of the teaching staff of the department is a guarantee of training highly qualified specialists - creative, unorthodox thinking, forward-looking, capable of working in the construction industry, water supply, sewerage and sustainable use and protection of water resources in enterprises, institutions and organizations of different forms of ownership and subordination in institutions of higher learning and scientific research institutes. 

Competitive advantages of the department formed and accumulated over the years. This is an invaluable intellectual capital of all lecturers, the result values that are produced jointly staff of the department, an alloy of knowledge, experience, relationships and image.

This Concept of development of the department for 2010-2020 takes into account the concept of the development of vocational education and training in Ukraine for 2010 - 2020 years, Concept of Poltava National Technical University named after Yuri Kondratyuk and the Concept of the Faculty of oil, gas and nature management for 2010-2020.

The aim of the Concept is to increase scientific and pedagogical potential of the department, eliminating the reasons that slow down its adaptation to the social market economy and integration as a part of the university in the European and international educational and scientific space, strengthening the work in the formation of high-quality scientific and educational potential, providing social protection for all workers of department, the development of partnerships with related departments of higher educational institutions of Ukraine and other countries.

The principles of the department work:

 1) normativity.

Follow directions of basic normative documents: the Law of Ukraine "About Education", the Law of Ukraine " About Higher Education", University Charter, the Statute of the department.

2)dynamic.

Provides rapid response of the department as educational and scientific subsection of University: a) change of customer requirements of educational services, b) changes in the process of training (innovations in education).

3)complexity.

Provides an equivalent implementation of all areas of the department (teaching, organizational and methodical, scientific, educational).

4)a collective and personal responsibility for the process and the results of the training of future professionals.

5)reflection.

On a rational level, this will provide an opportunity to analyze structurally done, provide feedback, in cooperation with different categories of partners. On an emotional level - to keep and deepen the emotional and creative atmosphere at the department, the atmosphere of mutual assistance in accordance with its characteristics, purpose and tasks;

6)publicity.

Achievements and results of the department work from different areas are regularly discussed at meetings of the department, faculty and university councils.

The Department sees its purpose in the training of high qualification specialists, those that

  • ·        have the leadership and integrity,
  • ·        is competitive in the labor market,
  • ·        effectively reacted in a professional, corporate and social environment,
  • ·        owns social mobility and has stable demand from employers.

The main aim of the Department is

satisfaction the growing demand of Ukrainian society to prepare highly qualified specialists in the fields of construction and water supply, sewerage and sustainable use and conservation of water resources, the specialists, which are owned by the theoretical knowledge and practical skills.

This aim can be achieved through:

- Increase the intellectual potential of the department, the development of the research base of the department, to improve the professionalism of the teaching staff;

- The introduction of innovative methods of organizing the learning process, the use of advanced learning technologies;

- The formation of co-operation with strategic partners.

  At the present stage, when Ukraine is carrying out modernization of the educational activities in the context of the European requirements, joined the Bologna process, which script associated with restructuring of European higher education, the main task of the Department is to increase level of general technical training of future specialists of educational qualification of "Bachelor" and "Master".

The purposes and tasks of the department can be implemented in the educational activities through the following measures:

2. The organization of the educational process and methodological support of disciplines in terms of creating pan-European educational space.

3. Activation of the research works of the department.

4. Computerization of the department, information resources and technology for students training.

5. Education and development of students.

7. The development and improvement of material and technical base of the department.

8. Department’s work on vocational guidance.

9. The development of international cooperation.

Abstract

Research works are carried out at the Department of hydraulics, water supply and sewerage in the following fields:

- Design, study and implementation of technological schemes of water supply of Poltava.

- Investigation of drinking water.

- Design, improvement and experimental refinement of elementsof water supply and sewerage systems.

- Development and implementation of measures to reduce energy consumption in water supply and sewerage systems.

8.1  Detailed description

Staff of the department performs a significant amount of research, which are divided in two areas: the state budget and contract.

The department works on the complex topic "Development and implementation of advanced technical solutions in terms of reliability, energy efficiency and water and sewage treatment". This common theme is running through 5 smaller topics and lines under the supervision of a leading scientist:

1) The development, research and implementation of technological schemes of water supply in Poltava.Supervisor – Prof. Novokhatniy V.G.

According to this line prepared and defended thesis:

3. MatyasO.V. (2012).

It was received more than 20 patents, published more than 100 articles and made over 60 presentations at scientific conferences at local, national and international levelsduring the 2001 – 2012.

2)Optimization of water and wastewater systems in order to save energy.Supervisor – Ph.D. GuzininO.I.

According to the results of research in this area it was defended the thesis by Wallakh V.P. (in 1988), prepared to defend the thesis byTsetsurenko S.V., as well as a doctoral dissertationof GuzininO.I., received more than 10 patents, published several articles and made a number of reports on scientific and technical conferences at local, national and international levels .

3)Design, improvement and experimental refinement of elements of water supply and sewerage systems.Supervisor – Prof. Sribnyuk S.M.

In 1994, under the supervision of SribnyukS.M. defend his Ph.D. thesisMolodorich A.N., besides it was published more than 25 articles, made about 10 reports on scientific and technical conferences at local, national and international levels. A number of inventions of Sribnyuk S.M.were protected by 60 patents, applied in industry and in the water systems of Poltava.

4)Development and implementation of energy saving measures in water supply and sewerage.Supervisor – Ph.D. Grigorenko N.V.

Developments of  Ph.D. Grigorenko N.V. received broad introduction to the facilities of utility enterprise "Poltavavodokanal" and allowed for significant energy savings.

5) Study of drinking water.

Supervisor –Ph.D., Senior lecturerYakovlevV.S.

In this direction it was defended the thesis by Zlobin I.O.in 1997 and enrolled in post-graduate school Mikheev R.V., who is currently working as chief engineer of company "Kemipol Ukraine".

In addition, the teachers of the department are performed each year a number of contractual works. For the 1975 –2012 the department had carried out scientific research and developed recommendations to improve the efficiency of the water supply system of Poltava. Works were carried out under the supervision of Prof. Novokhatniy V.G.

Since 1985, the department conducted a wide range of research work on the clean-up of highly concentrated wastewater (dairies, cheese factories, breweries, etc.) on disk biofilters. According to the results of research projects developed by dozens of drainage systems of industrial enterprises, which were introduced in factories, Poltava, Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv regions of Ukraine and Tula, Kaluga, Pskov regions ofRussia.

A large amount of research to study the hydrodynamics of underwater structures such as broaching pipes or cables of communication was conducted by a group of Sribnyuk S.M., MolodorichO.M., TsetsurenkoS.V.under the supervision of Prof. Sribnyuk S.M.As a result of the research it was formulated recommendations regarding:

- Select the speed dive to the bottom of the design at different wave modes of the sea;

- The establishment of optimal spacing between the structure and the bottom to ensure the design dive into the bottom of the soil;

- Selection of power equipment for the conclusion and lifting of the structure of the silted condition.

The results of the research has been compiled, produced about 25 patents for inventions and gave materials for prepare and defend Ph.D. thesis by Molodorich O.M.

Since 2001, under the supervision of SribnyukS.M.held significant amounts of research to improve the work of sewer and water pumping stations in Lutsk.

Continuing support for the production of industrial wastewater, including electroplating facilities, provide PhD. GuzyninO.I. and Ph.D. Zlobin I.O.Guzynin O.I. is also working on sanitary equipment of houses.

The result of the fruitful cooperation of docents Zlobin I.O. and Guzynin O.I. with the leadership of Kremenchug treatment plants has become solution to the problem of drinking water treatmentof Kremenchug reservoir from blue-green algae.

From 2001 to 2005, PhD. Grigorenko M.V. was a regular consultant on energy saving at the utility enterprise "Poltavavodokanal". In 2003, according to his personal suggestions and recommendations it was saved more than 10 million kilowatts of electricityin this plant.

Periodically it is executed contractual works on water supply and sewerage of various buildings, laboratories and institutions of the city.

Themes of Master's work:

- Justification of the force interaction of silted pipeline with the environment

- Assessment of the reliability of water recycling systems

- Reliability analysis of the supply and distribution complex of water systems

- Reliability analysis of group water systems with the nodes of regulation

- Improvement of cold and hot water supply of modern houses

- Optimization of the water supply systems

- Improved methods of calculation and selection of the optimal design of security spending in rainwater drainage networks

- Analysis of the methods of trenchless renewal of pipelines for water supply and sanitation

- Analysis of measures to reduce water consumption in the residential sector

- Simulation modeling of systems of water supply and distribution

- Analysis of the treatment methods of natural and waste waters using modern flocculants, coagulants and sorbents

- The optimal path search and repair of hidden leaks of pressure pipelines

- Selection of the optimal composition and calculation of small sewage treatment plants

- Study of the microbiological quality of water

- Study of the efficiency of stirring the reactants in water treatment process

- Study of filtration of water with low turbidity on fast filters

- Optimization of sewage pumping stations

- Study of the interaction of surface solitary waves and underwater obstacles.

Students of the department are involved in scientific research, ranging from 2-3 courses. The best students make presentations at conferences; along with faculty publish abstracts of the presentations and articles on the content of the research. Graduation diploma and master's work annually take part in competitions theses, where they occupy a worthy place. So, in 2006, master's work of Vasilyeva T.S. on "Intensification of water treatment in the deteriorating water quality Kremenchug reservoir", under the direction of Zlobin I.A., won first place; master thesis of Kovalenko N.Y. on the theme: "Optimization of water supply PoltNTU campus and develop recommendations for improvements."

Winners of the competition for university degree at the University are regularly Ukrainian Olympiads, which show a high level of training, both in the individual and team competitions. In 2013, 3 students became winners of Round II All-Ukrainian competition in the specialty.
