Section of Structural Mechanics

Department of Structural Mechanics exists since 1930. Finally, department received its name in 1953. The first head of department was professor, Ph.D., Honored Worker of Higher School of the USSR Dotsenko Ivan Savich. Since 2004, head of the department is professor, Ph.D., corresponding member of the Building Academy of Ukraine Alexander A. Shkurupіy.

The department teaches courses in basic disciplines: structural mechanics, structural mechanics (special courses), numerical methods for solving of engineering problems on PC, basic theory of structures, integrated systems for analysis and design of buildings and structures, algorithmic and programming of engineering problems, computers and methods of mathematical statistics for students in various directions of training.

The Structural Mechanics Department conducts research on strength, hardness, durability and reliability in the field of structural mechanics, solid mechanics, building structures and buildings on the effect of various types of loads and impacts.

All disciplines of department completely provided educational, normative and methodological literature for obtaining theoretical and practical knowledge, as well as independent and individual work of students of all forms of education.

Section of Theoretical Mechanics

The course “Theoretical Mechanics” was taught in the Poltava Institute of Engineers of Agricultural Construction since its inception (1930). In 1952 was created Department of Mathematics and Theoretical Mechanics. Department of Theoretical Mechanics as a separate unit was established in May 1972. The founders of the department – Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Associate Professor K. Deyneko; Ph.D., Professor L. Serdyuk. In 2014 came as a section of the Department of Building and theoretical mechanics.

The scientific and pedagogical staff provides teaching “Theoretical Mechanics”, “Applied Mechanics”, “Technical mechanics”, “The foundations of the theory of structures”, “Similarity theory, dimension theory and mathematical modeling” and “Mathematical design of machines in the computer calculations” for students of all engineering specialties.

On the Theoretical Mechanics section created and works recognized in Ukraine and abroad scientific school from vibration technique and vibration technology. Developments of scientists protected by more than 30 copyright certificates and patents. Scientists collaborating on the complex scientific research "Dynamics of controlled vibrating machines."

Shkurupiy Alexander

Manages chair since 2004. Teaches the courses "Structural Mechanics", "Special Courses of Structural Mechanics", "Numerical Methods of the Solution of Engineering Tasks on PC", "Bases of the Theory of Constructions", "Integrated Systems for Calculation and Design of Designs of Buildings and Constructions", "Informatics", "Algorithmic and programming of engineering problems" for students of the various directions of preparation.

Directs postgraduate study. The author more than 100 published works, among which manual with a signature stamp of Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine of "A basis of the theory of constructions", one normative document.

Sphere of scientific interests: development of methods of calculation of durability, rigidity, stability, construction designs and their elements on the basis of deformation model with extreme criterion. Corresponding member of Academy of construction of Ukraine.

In 35 years of production, scientific and pedagogical activity, A. Shkurupiy solved a number of scientific and practical problems of engineering calculations of existing and projected construction designs. He developed, designed and introduced in production a number of new types of construction designs.

Pashchenko Andrey

Sphere of scientific interests: assessment of reliability of elements of construction designs taking into account factors causing their valid work.

Scientific direction of associate professor Pashchenko Andrey provides probabilistic calculation of continual systems on the basis of a method of final elements. Associate professor Pashchenko Andrey has more than 60 scientific works, including 27 of them in professional journals, and also are the co-author more than 14 methodical instructions on various disciplines. At professional level knows the modern languages of programming, is achievement in the form of a number of software products for PC used in educational process, in particular Persist and Dynamic32. Carries out duties responsible behind the scientific direction, and also is one of heads of a scientific student's circle and annually prepares with students scientific works on competition.

Severin Vitaliy

Since 1981 he has been working at the Department of Theoretical Mechanics. He teaches courses “Theoretical Mechanics”, “Mathematical models in computer calculations”, “Technical mechanics”, “Similarity theory, dimension theory and mathematical modeling”.

Research interests: controlled vibrating machine for preparation of metal fiber.

He is the author of more than 40 scientific papers in various aspects of vibration technique.

Powered by the department since 2012. He teaches courses “Theoretical Mechanics”, “Mathematical modeling of machines in the computer calculations”.

Further studies related to the expansion of the use of adhesive joints mixture of steel and concrete construction. The research results are reported regularly at national and international conferences.

The author of more than 20 scientific articles and publications.

Ostapko Olena

Ph.D., senior lecturer

Since 2014 she has been working at the department. She teaches courses “Theoretical Mechanics”, “Applied Mechanics”, “The foundations of the theory of structures”, “Technical mechanics”.

Currently, engaged in the further development of methods of design the strength, stiffness, durability of reinforced concrete structures and their elements based on deformation model.

She is the author of more than 15 scientific papers.

Section of the Structural Mechanics

From the moment of the basis in 1930 of the Poltava institute of engineers of agricultural construction and till 1953 the various fundamental and professionally focused disciplines (the theoretical mechanics, resistance of materials, construction mechanics, construction designs, etc.) were stated on the joint chairs.

The chair of construction mechanics in our educational institution exists since 1953. The first teachers of construction mechanics were professor Kupinsky K.M. and senior teacher Maylis Ya.Kh.

Dotsenko I.S., Ph.D., associate professor, was the first head of the department. Calculation of modern construction designs, buildings and constructions is connected with large volume of calculations and application of variation and numerical methods of the calculations demanding use of computer aids. The department was the initiator of introduction in our educational institution of computer facilities in educational process and scientific researches.

Since 1962 at department of Structural Mechanics organized the laboratory of computer facilities which headed the professor Nevsky P. Since then the staff of department carries out active work on introduction of computer facilities to educational process and performance of research works.

On the basis of cathedral laboratory of computer facilities in 1980 at chair the was created computer center of our educational institution, the first chief was associate professor Mitrofanov B. The staff of department was the founder of introduction of the PC in educational process, research work and an automated control system of our educational institution (ACS “HEI”). Performing works on development of various PC ("Beam", "Nairi", "Minsk-22", "ES-1022", "ES 1036", personal computers, etc.) the department took active part in preparation and retraining of teachers and the staff of educational institution concerning use of computer facilities.

In 1990 the computer center of our educational institution became independent division.

Use by department of computer aids allowed to execute difficult calculations for design of construction designs, buildings and constructions of Poltava region (a frame framework of tribunes of the Vorskla stadium, new bus station of Poltava, base plates of multystoried buildings, dynamic calculations to order Dormash and KRAZ plants of Kremenchug, etc.).

Section of the Theoretical Mechanics

Курс «Теоретична механіка» викладався в Інституті інженерів сільськогосподарського будівництва з моменту його створення (1930 рік) на базі відповідного факультету. Як і вищу математику, дисципліну викладали особи, запрошені на умовах суміщення з педагогічного інституту.

The course “Theoretical Mechanics” taught in the Poltava Institute of Engineers of Agricultural Construction since 1930 on the basis of the respective faculty.

In 1952 established the Department of Mathematics and Theoretical Mechanics. It was led by a graduate of the Moscow Institute of Civil Engineering, a student of Professor V.I. Murashov, Ph.D., Associate Professor Alexander F. Kurenkov (1919 – 1987).

From 1958 to 1961 the department chair was a graduate of Kharkov State University, Ph.D. in Physics and Mathematical sciences associate professor Nikolai Suprun.

Since 1961 the head of the department was a graduate of the Lviv State University, a student of the famous mechanic Professor M.J. Leonova, Ph.D. in Physics and Mathematical sciences Clara Deyneko. In this time the department has has added a young scientists – Ph.D.: Y. Zasko, Y. Zhary, V. Kravets, L. Serduk.

At that time, the main problem was the Department of scientific work: special topics, which were developed by Lecturers, were separate and needed improve their performance. And it decided Leonid Serduk.

Later it was decided to divide department in two parts. Thus, in May 1972, was created a separate department of Theoretical mechanics, head of which left K. Deyneko. At the department worked 7 professors, four of which had scientific degrees of Ph.D.

In 1976, a talented, energetic, full of ideas, a young scientist L. Serduk heads the department of Theoretical mechanics.

Leonid Serduk was born November 25, 1937 in Poltava.

He graduated in 1956 Poltava Transport Construction College. From 1956 to 1960 he studied at the Poltava Institute of Engineers of Agricultural Construction (now – Poltava National Technical University named in honor by Yuri Kondratyuk). In 1960, as one of the top students was seconded MHSSE USSR in the People's Republic of Bulgaria to continue their studies at the Sofia Civil Engineering Institute (now – University of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy), which he graduated in 1962 and obtained a diploma of civil engineer.

In 1962 – 1964 he worked as a construction foreman SU “Promstroy” m. Kremenchug, head of manufacturing Lubni reinforced concrete plant, a senior engineer of the Central Laboratory of the construction industry in Poltava. From 1964 to 1966 he studied in graduate school, after ending of which he returned to Poltava National Technical University, where he continued to work until his death. He worked as an assistant, associate professor, associate dean, professor, head of department of Theoretical mechanics.

The main direction of researches was vibration machines and vibration technology. Leonid published more than 250 scientific works, received 35 patents in the field of vibration machines and vibration technology. He was the scientific adviser of the single scientific school in Ukraine and abroad, which develops and explores new generation of vibration techniques – operated vibrating machine. On the subjects of scientific researches is protected by 1 doctoral and 6 Ph.D. dissertations. He was a member of the editorial boards of several professional editions in Ukraine and Russia, a member of the scientific and technical advice on vibration technology. He took an active part in the work of international scientific conferences.

In 1987 L. Serduk order of the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Special Education was enshrined by the Kharkov Polytechnic Institute to complete and defense the doctoral dissertation.

From 1987 to 1992, the department was headed by a graduate of the Kiev State University Ph.D. of Physical and Mathematical sciences, associate professor Vasiliy Kravets, he was a student of Professor T. Putyata.

In 1989, the department was created graduate. First graduate student was a graduate of the Poltava Civil Engineering Institute A. Cherevko.

In 1992, Associate Professor L. Serduk protects the Kharkov Polytechnic Institute doctoral thesis on “Fundamentals of the theory, calculation and design of operated vibrating machines with unbalanced exciter”. In the same year received the title of Professor, and was elected a member of the Ukrainian Academy of Sciences of National Progress. Since 1992, Sc.D., Professor L. Serduk was the head of the Department. Under his leadership, prepared and defended their dissertations: Alexander Cherevko (1993), Sergei Zhygyliy (1997), Lyudmila Zavyalova (1997), Sergei Hnitko (1999), Yuri Davydenko (1999), Lyudmila Osina (2000). Over the years, in graduate school under the direction of L. Serdyuk studied graduates of the Faculty of Mechanical 1997 Alexey Masko and Valeriy Maliy (in absentia), but for good reasons stopped working on dissertations. Applicant, chairman of the LLC “Lubnyzhytlobud” Nikolai Kostenko fruitfully worked on his thesis. He made a significant contribution to the theoretical and experimental researches, published more than 30 scientific papers, but also had to stop working on his thesis.

Department of Theoretical Mechanics was a school of scientific and pedagogical skills for many scientists who then continued to work in other departments of the University. Among them Ph.D.: I. Kolomiec, V. Mitrofanov, N. Bogomolov, A. Kasyanov, A. Redkin, S. Hnitko, Y. Kostin, I.  Ryabcev; Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences: A. Loburets, N. Senenko, S. Malynskiy, A. Vakhnenko.

From the above clear that the most significant contribution to the formation, development and achievements of the department of theoretical mechanics brought Leonid Serduk (1937 – 2009), who devoted 43 years working at the department, 28 of which guided it.

For many people, Leonid Serduk opened new perspectives inspired and demonstrated that research – this is the way, which you can devote your life.

The bright memory of Leonid Serdyuk forever save all who were fortunate enough to know him and work with him.

From 2009 to 2014 the department was headed Ph.D., associate professor Alexander Cherevko.

In 2014 came as a section of the Department of Building and theoretical mechanics.

Teachers of department of Structural and Theoretical Mechanics carry out scientific researches on the "Calculation of Durability, Rigidity, Stability and Reliability of Construction Designs, Buildings and Constructions on Action of Different Types of Loadings and Influences" direction.

Researches are conducted on questions

- Development of method of calculation of durability, rigidity and stability of ferroconcrete designs on different types of loadings and influences (Shkurupiy A., Lazarev D., Karabash L., Mitrofanov P.);

- Studying of durability, rigidity, stability of pipe-concrete designs (Kalchenko A., Dzhura V., Vasyuta V.);

- Assessment of parameters of reliability of construction designs and their elements taking into account factors causing their valid work and loading rationing (Pashchenko A., Severin V.) ;

- Modeling of the bases of buildings and constructions (Golov O.). The purpose of researches is increase of reliability and reduction of a material capacity of construction designs, optimization of constructive solutions of frameworks of buildings.

The result of researches in recent years developed methods, algorithms and program complexes for calculations of construction designs and their elements on durability, rigidity, stability and reliability.

Scientific work of chair performed in such forms and the directions: contract , publishing, performance of dissertation works, research work of students under the leadership of teachers, participation in scientific conferences, the conclusions of creative contracts, scientific and methodical work, according to the thematic plan of the research works performed within the main working hours of teachers of chair.

The department maintains relations with KNUBA, OGASA of DONAB of NIISK, HGAGH, national university "Lvivska Politechnika", Rivne National University of Water Management, Lutsk state technical university, etc.

The department of Structural Mechanics carries out training of specialists on the following of professionally focused and special disciplines:

1. Structural Mechanics (studying of methods of calculation of durability and rigidity of construction designs, buildings and constructions on action of static and mobile loadings and other influences).

2. Structural Mechanics (special course) (studying of methods of calculation of construction designs, buildings and constructions on stability (studying of methods of calculation of durability and rigidity of construction designs, buildings and constructions on action of static and mobile loadings and other influences). Bases of dynamics of rod systems).

3. Numerical methods of the solution of engineering tasks on PC (statement of an engineering problem drawing up mathematical model of work of construction designs, buildings and constructions, development of numerical algorithms and the solution of engineering tasks on PC; analysis of results of calculation).

4 .Bases of the theory of constructions (studying of methods of calculation of construction designs, buildings and constructions on durability, rigidity and stability at action of static and mobile loadings and other influences).

5. The integrated systems for calculation and design of designs of buildings and constructions (studying and application of license packages of applied programs for calculation and design of construction designs, buildings and constructions).

6. Informatics (studying of office applications for application in construction branch).

7. Informatics and programming (studying of office applications for application in the field of geodesy, cartography and land management).

8. Computers and methods of mathematical statistics (the study of office application programs for processing by methods of mathematical statistics in the field of physical culture and sport).

9. Theoretical Mechanics is a fundamental required discipline for almost all areas of the Bachelor engineering education of Ukraine. It is also the basic disciplines included in the curriculum of many engineering disciplines such as: “Applied Mechanics”, “Strength of Materials”, “Structural Mechanics”, “Theory of Machines and Mechanisms”, “Details of machines”, “Hydraulics”, “Thermodynamics” and so on.

The study of Theoretical Mechanics promotes expansion of scientific outlook of students raising their general scientific culture and the development of thinking. Knowledge of theoretical mechanics necessary to understand the future specialist mechanical phenomena with which he will have to face in their practice.

10. Applied Mechanics the subject of study of discipline is the most general laws of motion and interaction of bodies, knowledge of quantitative and qualitative patterns observed in nature, and design of building designs of buildings and structures for strength and rigidity.

11. The foundations of the theory of structures the subject of study of the course is the design of building constructions of buildings and structures for strength and stiffness of the action of static and dynamic loadings and other influences..

12. Technical mechanics the subject of study of discipline is the most general laws of mechanics and interaction of bodies, knowledge of quantitative and qualitative patterns of elastic deformation, complex deflected mode and methods of design on strength, rigidity and stability of individual elements of engineering structures.

13. Similarity theory, dimension theory and mathematical modeling. Similarity theory is based on the doctrine of the dimension of physical quantities and is the scientific base of modeling and serves as a method of learning and study of various objects, which plays a major role method of analogies.

14. Mathematical models in computer calculations. The main goal of teaching - to give basic knowledge of the methods of compiling mathematical models of mechanical state of the system, process or technological machines; and to introduce students to the elements of similarity theory and dimension.

Nowadays the Structural and Theoretical Mechanics Department has the laboratory equipped with 12 computers, where students of engineering specialties studying information technologies in construction, performing calculations of bearing structures of buildings and structures using licensed software packages and programs that are developed by teachers of the Department.

Computer class of the Department is equipped with a complex of licensing programs LIRA-SAPR "Academic Set 2016" as part of LIRA-CAD, Monomakh-CAD, Espri, Sapphire-3D.

Kit of programs designed for giving the students opportunities at practical and laboratory classes at studying subjects structural mechanics and integrated systems for the analysis and design of buildings and structures working with licensed software, which they will use in their future careers.

LIRA-CAD 2016 - a multifunctional software package designed for the design and calculation of engineering and building structures for various purposes. Calculations are performed in the program as the static and the dynamic effects. The basis for calculation is the finite element method (FEM).

  Different modules that are connected (processors) allow to make selection and verification of sections of steel and concrete structures, soil model, calculate bridges and behavior of buildings during the installation.

The program complex LIRA has a large library of finite elements (rod scheme, shell, plate, beam-wall membranes, awnings, etc.), a set of multi-processors, large base steel grades. This allows to calculate the design of any complexity for different types of static and dynamic actions. Construction of concrete and steel elements is made in accordance with CIS countries, Europe and the United States (there is support in English at any stage of work, and different systems of measurement units). Integration of CAD and applications (AutoCAD, Allplan, Stark SK, ArchiCAD, Microsoft Office, HyperSteel, AdvanceSteel, Bocad, Revit).

The department laboratory is fully equipped with instruments and models for demonstration lectures, practical and laboratory on theoretical mechanic’s classes.

The department takes part in development of the state construction norms of Ukraine and state standards, namely:

The scientific activity of teachers of department performed according to several directions:

- development of methods of calculation of strength, stiffness and stability of concrete structures for various types of loads and impacts (Shkurupii A.A, Lazarev D.M., Karabash L.V., Mytrofanov P.B.);

- study of stress-strain state compressed ferro-concrete constructions (Dzhura V.M., Vasyuta V.V.)

- estimation of parameters of reliability of structures and their elements taking into account the factors causing them actual work and rationing of load (Paschenko A.M., Severin V.A);

The department was created and recognized in Ukraine and abroad scientific school of vibration machinery and vibration technology. The basis of the theory, developed the original controlled vibrating machines and devices. Development protected scientists over 30 per copyright certificates and patents. Vibration machines are designed and manufactured at the Department together with scientists PA "Znamja", working at several companies of Kyiv, Moscow, Kstovo, Poltava. This creates a vibration technique new generation - operated vibrating machines and devices that have significant energy, dynamic, technological and environmental advantages over existing unmanaged machines. In the world there are no analogues of such machines.

The department has a research laboratory, where implement experimental researches, the results of which are designed as dissertations publications and articles.

Program complex Dinamika

 

Provides calculation of dynamic systems on the free and compelled fluctuations with possibility of definition of a range of frequencies and the main forms of free fluctuations that allows to consider the valid coefficients of dynamism of designs and really to estimate their reliability as a whole.

 

Program complex Statistics

Carries out statistical processing of results of scientific researches with possibility of creation of histograms of distribution and for problems of rationing of characteristics of durability and rigidity of construction materials that gives the chance to determine design parameters of designs reasonably economically.

 

Program complex Structure3

 

Carries out static calculation of arches of a various outline taking into account coefficients of combinations of loadings that is important for an economic justification of made design decisions.

Carries out static calculation of a frame like "stick" on action of various types of loadings taking into account coefficients of their combinations that is important for an economic justification of made design decisions.

 

Program complex CRC-12

Implementation of the solution of problems of durability and bearing ability is squeezed - curved RCE and their elements from various classes of durability of concrete, including and high-strength (from 10 to 120 MPa), and also at various classes of reinforcing steel taking into account its preliminary tension. Use of high-strength concrete, especially in constrained RCE, gives economy of concrete to 30%.

By results of researches is made a number of reports at the international conferences in Odessa, Kiev, Lviv, Rivne, Krivoi Rog, Makeyevka, Kharkov. Results of researches are reflected in normative and technical documents ДБН В.2.6-98: 2009 "Designs of houses and constructions. Concrete and ferroconcrete designs. Basic provisions" and ДБН В.2.6-160:2010 "Designs of houses and constructions. Pipe-concrete of a design. Basic provisions".

Results of the conducted scientific researches of staff of chair are reflected in many scientific articles, in domestic magazines and collections of the international scientific and technical conferences.

The best students who expressed desire to be engaged further in scientific activity, have opportunity to continue training in a magistracy and postgraduate study. They are assigned to leading teachers of chair who with them carry out the corresponding work when studying special disciplines, involving them in cooperation in the following directions:

- Drawing up demands for inventions;

- Writing of reports and articles;

- Performance of elements of researches or research sections when developing term papers and projects;

- Participation in the first and second round of All-Ukrainian competition for the best student's scientific work on the directions "Construction and Architecture";

- Help to graduate students in carrying out experiences;

- Participation in work of a scientific circle.
